Frequently asked Questions

It’s your turn to interview us.

If you can’t find your answer here, don’t hesitate to reach out.

  • Most homes provide sufficient space for our film and video equipment. Our priority is to film in an area where our subjects feel comfortable and at home. Therefore, during our location visit, we determine the appropriate amount of equipment that we will bring for a successful shoot.

  • Absolutely not! Every person has experienced joy and hardship, and has a unique story to share. Some of the most impactful stories captured in our videos come from ordinary, mundane memories. Our professional team works hard to make clients feel comfortable, and our “conversation style” of interviewing often brings lost memories to the surface. The result is a video that is real, candid, and beautifully captured.

  • Leave that to us! We will find out what questions your family is wanting to ask you! We also have a hefty list of questions that will help guide you through your interview with ease.

  • Our video boxes are treasured, tangible keepsakes for you and your loved ones. While you will have access to the digital film files we produce, having a videobox on hand allows anyone to pick it up at any point and press play. Instantly you have your loved one on the screen, telling their story in their own words. They make amazing gifts to extended family, and are a great way to make the feature film more accessible. Feel free to reach out to our team, and we can give you a quote on additional boxes.

  • It’s really important to us that people feel safe and respected at all times. If there is a subject that is particularly difficult to talk about, or something that you would rather not share, that is no problem. Part of our initial research includes a form for you and your family to complete, leaving a space for subjects that you would like to avoid. Should something change in the moment once we start filming, it would be on your terms and we can easily pivot. It’s your video and your story. You call the shots.

  • Don’t worry about it! We will try again. The last thing we want is for you to be self conscious about how you are portrayed, and we can easily edit out mistakes and errors.

  • We don’t typically guarantee delivery timeframes, but aim to deliver within 45 days of filming. In situations where a family may have special time requirements (family illness, reunions, funeral, etc.) we’ll always do our best to prioritize a specific project to accommodate urgent deadlines.

  • Whatever you want! Whether it’s your Sunday best or a t-shirt and jeans, wear what feels natural and is authentically you.

  • Not if you don’t want to! From time to time, we ask clients if we can use some or all of their video for promotional purposes, but never without consulting with them first.

  • If you would rather film at another location other than your home, we can usually make that work. We really try to avoid the outdoors due to weather, sound, variable light conditions and distractions but we are always up for a challenge. If you really have your heart set on it, we will do our best to make it work.

  • We’ve got you covered! Video boxes are incredibly user friendly. If you can open a book, you can watch your film on a videobox.

  • Very few of our clients have experience being interviewed prior to having us record them. We aren’t expecting you to be anything but yourself! Candid, honest answers are the most prized content and what your family will cherish the most.

Give your loved one the gift of being remembered, in their own words.
